Gustavia Yacht Club (GYC), established in 2016 and with 200 active members, recently exchanged burgees with the Palm Beach Yacht Club (PBYC) in Florida.

GYC members Pravin Khatau and Leontine van Hekken were invited by James and Sarah Karis to ring in the New Year with them at the Palm Beach Yacht Club, which was founded in 1911.

A dinner held in the Dining Room, with its stunning views of Palm Beach and the Intra-Coastal Waterway, was hosted by Harris Levitt, the General Manager of PBYC.

Mr Khatau exchanged burgees with Michael Houston, who is the Maître de Hôtel. Following a group photo, Mr Levitt commented to Mr Khatau and Ms van Hekken that PBYC appreciates exchanging distinguishing flags with other Yacht clubs, which brings with it the opportunity to meet their members.

Mr Levitt, who’s been to St Bart’s and “loves it there”, was delighted to learn about GYC and extended his best wishes to the Club. He has fond memories of the island and the friendliness of the people, but said the landing into Gustavia airport was a little scary – the next time he’ll be sailing to St Barts.
