Brush fire put out by quick to respond firefighters

A brush fire ignited early afternoon on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 on the hill overlooking rue de Grande Caye à Cul-de-Sac in Saint-Martin. Fortunately, due to the direction of the wind, it did not pose a threat to nearby homes.

The Saint-Martin Rescue Centre set up a preventive measure consisting of two fire trucks and a hydropump to create a damp barrier to protect housing.

With a quick response time, 17 firefighters were on the scene shortly after 5 pm to extinguish the brush fire then fanned by the wind.

Overnight surveillance was set up to avoid in risk of a secondary fire.
